ByteDance has agreed to sell TikTok’s US operations to avoid a ban in the country. Microsoft would be in charge of protecting US user data.
Earlier, President Trump said that he would ban TikTok outright and rejected talk of allowing a sell-off. He suggested he would use an executive order or emergency economic powers to block the company. Tiktok has more than 100 million users in the US.
